چکیده
This work presents a novel steam accumulator and concrete-block storage system (SACSS) to recover part of the energy lost through cycle side during startups combined power plants (CCPPs). The accumulators are integrated with sensible-heat concrete provide superheated resulting then higher efficiency safer turbine operation compared systems based only on saturated steam. An economic analysis is performed considering two different scenarios: i) CCPP able execute fast using Benson-type heat recovery generator (HRSG) ii) operated conventional which employs typical drum-type HRSG. It worth mentioning that second scenario measured data. optimization SACSS carried out focusing in four design variables: number units, pressure, length outer diameter. optimum solution net present value 4.45 M€ payback period 3 years for suitable startups. For startups, 2.53 3.4 obtained. grows around 60 % both cases if benefits from carbon credits considered. In addition improvement, could be used preheat critical sections generators, reducing thermal stress fatigue damage Finally, emissions avoided thanks estimated 640 2 175 tons CO2 per year, startup cases, respectively.

Optimization of thermoelectric topping combined steam turbine cycles for energy economy
A mismatch between the fuel combustion temperature 2250 K (adiabatic) and the high pressure steam temperature up to 900 K, results in a large amount of thermodynamic losses in steam turbine (ST) cycles. A solid-state thermoelectric (TE) placed on top of a ST cycle will produce additional electrical power. By selecting the right materials for the TE generator for high temperature operation, the ...

Due to long life of steam power plants in Iran, transformation of steam cycles to combined cycles is under consideration. Bandar-Abbas steam power plant with capacity of 320 MW has been analyzed in this work. This old plant is located near the harbor city of Bandar-Abbas at southern Iran. Method of exergy analysis is used to study the current and the repowered systems. Optimum state of the repo...
متن کاملOptimization of Hybrid Energy Storage Systems at the Building Level with Combined Heat and Power Generation
The average daily benefit to cost ratio of a building energy storage system is mainly constrained by the battery lifetime. This paper aims to minimize the average daily cost of a hybrid energy storage system (HESS) (comprised of a battery and supercapacitor) by optimizing the battery capacity. A novel optimization model is proposed with the objective to find the minimum average daily investment...
